Hi! I'm Lee, and this is Spoonless Activists.

We're a community for anyone who wants to do something about this world we're in, something to make it a better, more humane place - but is short on resources. Low spoons? Not much cash? Not much time? I wish I could say "we've got you", but at this stage we've got a small collection of ideas and a willingness to keep muddling through.

As we develop our plans and strategies, I'll update this post.

Thoughts? Ideas? Drop them in the comments below.

How It Works
Found an action it might be useful for other people to do?
* make a new post on the community
* use our posting template and fill out the form to tell us as much about the action as possible

(We might have a way for you to let us know about the action if you don't have time for the full post soon!)

Want to do something?
* browse our activities tag for something useful, read the info, and complete the action if you can!

Smart Bitches, Trashy Books has a link post today that looks like it might lead to some useful resources: http://smartbitchestrashybooks.com/2016/11/getting-involved/

I haven't followed up on many of them yet, though, so I'm not sure.

I filled out a volunteer form for the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), which has an option for "remote" activism. I assume it will take awhile for their volunteer coordinator to get back to me, which is a fairly standard thing for most organizations. I think most of the remote outreach is social-media based, also monitoring news outlets/hate crime reports.

(If you don't know much about CAIR, here's their mission statement.)

It occurred to me the other day that a useful thing for people with phone anxiety might be an internet chat where we could hold each other's virtual hands while we make important calls.

Not sure yet if I have the spoons to organize this, tho.

Thought! RFM's ongoing needs section provides some kind of list of not-brand-new actions, but it misses a lot. Would there be value in me going through old posts and pulling out all the ones that are still active and linking to them in one post, like the way I do the RFM ongoing needs post?

This is NOT something I can commit to on a weekly basis or anything yet, but maybe if I do it once or twice to see how labor intensive it is, I could come up with a system to make it weekly or monthly or whatever so older but no less deserving needs aren't lost in the large number of RFM posts.

But only if you think it's worth doing!
