Which is a) a lot of money, b) especially since my benefits are dependent on me having less than $2000 total assets. (Medical equipment doesn't count so *owning* the dog is fine, but I can't exactly save up.)

QueerCare is a transfeminist autonomous care organisation, providing training, support and advocacy for trans and queer people in the uk (and further afield).

We focus on building communities which can care for themselves, and providing them with the resources to do so, from legal support to medical equipment.

We also work to link local advocacy and support workers with people who need these services, as well as covering expenses (and, hopefully soon, wages) for advocates at appointments.

We’re focused on helping trans women and people who experience transmisogyny, but we help as many people as we can, especially queer and trans people of all genders, and those unable to access other services.

My name is Perseus, & I'm a 23 year old mentally & physically disabled transgender person. I've lived w/ severe abuse for most of my life, & up until recently I was coping through it. My mother & I lived with my stepfather who abused us both in every form until I was 17 & called child services, got my sister adopted into another family.

Corey Alexander is at high risk of homelessness and needs your help.

Two years ago, Corey was hit by a car. Ever since the hit and run, they have been struggling with substantially increased PTSD symptoms and chronic pain. These symptoms worsened at the beginning of 2016. Corey was no longer able to work and went into full time psychiatric treatment. After treatment, they were not able to return to work, and will not able to return to work in the near future (if at all).

Corey has been living on state disability (SDI) for the last year, and has applied for federal disability (SSDI), but the application process takes a long time. Right now, it is not clear when SSDI will kick in; and state disability is running out in May.

There is NO chance Corey will begin receiving SSDI in May. In other words, at the end of May, Corey will be without the resources to pay for shelter, food, and medication. Corey's disability advocates are telling them that they are at high risk for homelessness.
