I am writing you because I am concerned that the UK is not moving in the right direction regarding climate change. I am pushed to write this email/letter after reviewing recent news about the impacts of climate change worldwide, including the Arctic, the Great Barrier Reef, and global temperature records among many other scientific data points; considering my children's/grandchildren's future on this planet; and researching recent policies.
While the UK's current climate change actions are insufficient as proven by the report by the Committee on Climate Change, there is still time to turn this around and save the planet. Please also consider the side benefits of taking this morally necessary action: the regeneration of local economy by climate-related jobs, the calling costs of renewable energies, and reduced burden on the healthcare system due to climate-related illnesses.
As my councillor, I am asking you to call for stronger action on climate change. Please share this letter with other potential allies in this fight and raise these issues and fight for their discussion. I would also appreciate a meeting with myself and others to discuss our concerns.
