This is a bit of a mixed bag of links! I've only poked gently at these websites - I haven't done intensive research on any of them, but I'm hoping someone will find them useful!

My Society

We help people be active citizens

Our technology, research and data are used by individuals, journalists, and civil society in over 40 countries around the world.

This seems to be a fairly broad-spectrum and international site.

Votes for Schools

VotesforSchools gives your students a voice on the issues that affect them the most, as well as supporting you to consistently embed SMSC, British Values and Prevent across your school.

Looks like a specific programme for teachers to help inform their students (at all stages of education) to be more informed on current affairs, especially those affecting the students themselves.

Democracy Club
We know democracy can work better. We have an ambitious goal to provide accurate, non-partisan information on every election and candidate in the UK, unbiased and unfiltered.

Election-specific and UK-specific, but looks very useful for future UK elections (we have a lot of local elections coming up in the summer, I believe).

Think Local Act Personal
We are a national partnership of more than 50 organisations committed to transforming health and care through personalisation and community-based support.

This looks like a great set of resources and projects relating to personal and social care.

Stay Up Late
We believe that people with learning disabilities have the right to stay up late and have some fun

A very worthwhile project - campaigning for more flexible carer hours so that people with learning disabilities have the opportunity to attend late-night events.

Note: SIGH, I just realised I originally posted this on my own journal instead of here. DW skills: TOP NOTCH. Anyway, this is a thought I had:

I was thinking of having a Central Post to stick actions that we would like to see put on the community, but don't have time/spoons/whatever right this moment to do.

My idea: if you have an idea for an action, post a quick summary of your idea, or dump the link, in a top-level comment.

If you're feeling spoonful and want to help, scroll through the inbox post, use the template to post the action to the community, and then reply to that comment with "done!" or similar.

That way we crowd-source the action-posting, and have a central repository of community work that wants to be done.

Thoughts? Comments? Is this a good/bad/indifferent idea?
